Prawn Curry-South Indian Style

1 Oil 2 tbsp
2 Chopped onions 1 cup
3 Green chili 1
4 Coriander powder 1 tsp
5 Chili powder 1/2 - 1 tsp
6 Garam masala 1 1tsp
7 Tomato paste 2 tbsp
8 Prawns 500 g
9 Coconut milk 1/4 cup
10 Ginger & Garlic paste 1 and 1/2 - 2 tbsp
11 Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
12 Salt and pepper as Sufficient

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add onions. Saute, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until they are soft and translucent.

  2. Add ginger garlic paste and green chilies (if using). Saute, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant.

  3. Add ground turmeric, ground coriander, garam masala and red chili powder. Sauté, stirring, for a minute or until aromatic.

  4. Add tomato paste. Saute, stirring, for few seconds.

  5. Add prawns and 1 cup water. Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, covered, for 5-10 minutes or until they are cooked through.

  7. Add coconut milk. Simmer for 1 minute.

  8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
